Tubex Ecostart

The Ecostart is often used in hedging and small scale landscaping projects, with whip planting in the 20-40cm range.

The Tubex Ecostart evolved from the patented Tubex Quill design. Now withdrawn, the Tubex Quill offered a free standing Tubex shelter, but was limited by site and soil conditions.

The Tubex Ecostart suits any type of soil conditions with its pre-fitted releasable ratchet tie(s) for attachment to a stake or cane.

As with the Tubex Standard, the Tubex Ecostart improves the micro-climate around the plant enhancing growth, as well as offering protection against rabbits and voles at low heights (up to 0.75m). However, it contains lower levels of UV stabiliser than the Tubex Standard and will naturally begin to break down over a shorter period.

Hints and tips

  • Use a well-driven quality stake to depth of at least 30cm
  • Especially suitable for slender plants and hedging
  • If in doubt as to size of shelter, use a Tubex Standard
  • Consider removal if tree fills the shelter by splitting along the laserline
