Tubex acquired by Fiberweb Geosynthetics
19 May 2011
On May 17th Tubex was wholly acquired by Fiberweb plc. This recent acquisition has shaped a compelling new global proposition in the field of silviculture and tree protection for the Forestry, Viticulture, Landscaping and Fruit Growing industries.
Bringing this South Wales based operation into the Fiberweb group is highly complementary to Fiberweb’s existing tree shelter business – Acorn. The combined history of product innovation, experience and knowledge bank of the two businesses gives Fiberweb a platform from which to develop new markets whilst offering existing customers enhanced service through streamlining operations and manufacturing economies.
Fiberweb plc (Fiberweb) is a leading international manufacturer of speciality nonwoven materials, with a total of sixteen plants and 1,800 employees operating in nine countries across Europe, North America and Asia. The Group comprises businesses supplying tailored solutions to Industrial and Hygiene nonwovens markets.
Future plans include relocation of some of the manufacturing plant from the integrated Tubex and Acorn business to Fiberweb’s existing plant in Old Hickory, Nashville to support the Tubex and Fiberweb operations in the US by providing manufacturing capability located within a market identified for development.
John Warner, President Fiberweb Geosynthetics commented:
“This acquisition is an exciting enhancement to our Geosynthetics division. It will help the business not only diversify but expand its customer base as well as adding value to existing customers through a significantly expanded product portfolio”
“This is a strategic move in our organisation’s ongoing customer-focused growth strategy. Pooling resources as well as combining viticulture, forestry and landscaping expertise will give us a deeper understanding of our customers needs and allow us to offer an improved service. It will enhance our technical knowledge, open up more routes to international markets and significantly expand our specialist product range.”
