Sponsoring the RFS Silviculture Award Tubex was proud to be a part of the Royal Forestry Society (RFS) Excellence in Forestry Awards 2011. The very best in woodlands and forestry practices were celebrated at a special event held in June at Madingley Hall, Cambridge.

As market leaders to the forestry industry for over 25 years, Tubex was keen to support the premier forestry competition for England, Wales and Northern Ireland and has committed to sponsorship until 2013.

Paul Dean said “we feel that it’s vitally important to help promote outstanding silviculture and timber production within UK Forestry.  As an industry we have much to offer the future UK economy, and through carbon mitigation, our environment.”

Presenting the awards Royal Forestry Society (RFS) President Anthony Bosanquet said: “We have witnessed some truly outstanding forestry management, making the very best of natural and human resources.

“One message that comes across clearly is that woodlands, and forestry, are alive and well, and that they play a key part in local economies and the well-being of local communities.”

Excellence in Forestry Awards 2011 sought the very best in woodlands and woodland practices across counties between Derbyshire, North London and East Anglia. In 2012 the competition moves to the South Western counties from Cornwall to Wiltshire and Gloucester.

The RFS Silviculture Award for woodlands grown primarily for commercial timber went to Joint Winners, The Sotterley Farms partnership woods at Sotterley, near Beccles, and Fulmodeston Severals and Hindolveston Wood, both near Fakenham. Pierrepont Settlement, Thoresby Estate, perlethorpe was the runner up.
